Carlos Rodríguez was born in Venezuela and recently moved to Costa Rica. In 1998 he began his life as a diver, becoming certified as Advance Open Water Diver and making this activity one of the great passions of his life. To date he has more than 1000 dives made in different parts of the world: Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres, Florida Keys, Tobago, Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Venezuela, Galapagos Islands, Hawaii, Roatan, Costa Rica and Cayman Islands are some of the places he has visited to explore its underwater.
His evolution from diver to photographer was initiated by the need to capture the wonders of the underwater world, but he did not settle solely with the image, but began to complete those records with research, in an autodidactic process in which he harmoniously combines science, art and passion. It takes advantage of the astonishment that the image produces to educate and to foment the respect for the immense diversity that exists under the water.
He is a craftsman of photography, that shoots and classifies guided by patience and research, with the wisdom obtained from a sustained and disciplined practice of that hobby that has made him an exceptional photographer that generously immerses us in marine life, which he loves and respects deeply. His photographic work bets on the possibility of transmitting and educating others about the infinite wonders of the marine world and the importance of its conservation.
Carlos recently had the honor to became part of the Wildscreen Exchange iniciative, “a unique global hub that empowers conservation organizations by connecting them with world-leading filmmakers and photographers to create ground-breaking communications about our natural world”, and as an active contributor to this wonderful iniciative he has donated some of his images so that it can be use by conservation organisations all around the globe.
He is also a proud member of the Ocean Artists Society, a group of artists from different ambits such as sculpture, painting, videography and photography, gathered to use ocean art to inspire people around the world to a greater awarenes of the need to preserve our natural world.
